- Rehearse out loud, on the ground. Say the actions for each failure until the first three come without thought.
- Play the ‘where would I go’ game every flight. At any point in the climb or cruise, know your field. It costs nothing and converts a decision into a recall.
- Learn the systems well enough to diagnose. You cannot identify a failure mode you do not understand.
- Think about partial failures specifically. Decide in advance what you would do with an engine making 60% power. The time to reason about that is not while it is happening.
